I hesitate to write this. It is one of our best kept secrets that we have only shared with our closest friends. We have been spending a week in the Spring at The Hyatt Resort Siesta Key Beach when the rest of the midwest and Canada are on break as well. Well, it is our slice of heaven, in a hustle and bustle time in Siesta Key.
The rooms at The Hyatt Resort on Siesta Key Beach are spacious, clean, delightful. ... And they have a hidden secret - a 2 bedroom 2 Den unit, ALL with baths! Who knew? On siesta key! This particular unit is like having 4 bedrooms, without booking a house, also almost impossible on Siesta Key in the Spring. And you can rent a week at a time! You have the luxury and space of having a home at this place that doesn't seem like a hotel, and without the crowds.
6 of us stayed at the Hyatt Resort in Siesta Key Beach . The condo was amazing. We had a two bedroom with three full baths. It was spotless, modern, well furnished, full kitchen, marble, granite, etc. The staff was great. They welcomed us by name and were ready for us upon arrival. The bartender and beach guys were wonderful and took great care of us. Continental breakfast was fresh and filling. The white sand beaches are unlike any I have seen in the US.
The condos are lovely at The Hyatt Resort Siesta Key Beach . The people working here are also fantastic. Its a very quiet place with little going on. There is only bar service for a few hours each day and it is expensive. The food served is not good at all...much like a cheap diner. The beach service (chair set up) was great. There is no food/drink service on the beach which is lacking. The beach is not nice. The only thing I can say is there are much nicer beaches throughout Florida. We chose this beach based upon many reviews. We were very disappointed to find that the water is not pretty, the beach has tons of sea grass and there are people everywhere. We walked most of the beach and found that it is just not nice at all. I do not recommend Siesta Key at all. If you want a nice beach go to Naples.
A relatively easy drive from the Sarasota airport, the 2bdrm/den condo offered more than enough room for our family of five. It was nicely furnished and conveniently close to restaurants, grocery stores and other shops. The staff was friendly, helpful and available. The main attraction is the beautiful Siesta Key Beach, warm blue water of the Gulf of Mexico and the whitest powdery sand you'll ever see. During our visit the beach was not crowded and getting chairs and umbrellas was never an issue. We will definitely return! One minor complaint: There is no food/drink service on the beach. You have to walk back to the pool bar which is only open for a limited time everyday.
The Hyatt Resort Siesta Key Beach is the best hotel accommodations on Siesta Key by a long shot. The rooms are enormous and very well appointed with fine furnishings and decor. Everything is top notch. The service is excellent. There is a nice breakfast each morning which is included with every room. The beach is beautiful with the whitest and softest sand you will ever see. There are many good restaurants nearby
It is almost hard to review this property because there are so many positives and yet some negatives that prevent it from a perfect rating. The residences are expansive, luxurious and are located on a beautiful beach and yet there is still something missing. The Hyatt Resort Siesta Key Beach operate on a skeleton staff and although the staff is accommodating and friendly (especially the bellmen and front desk) it almost seems strange because there are so few people working at the property.
But the grounds are pretty and well kept, so I guess the few staff they have are pretty efficient. The residences are gorgeous, with state-of-the-art appliances, modern bathrooms with showers that could water a small garden. The beds are extremely comfortable, there is an abundance of closet space, a safe, washer dryer and everything you need to live comfortably. The decks are small compared to the units but if you’re on the 5th or 6th floor, and maybe even the fourth floor, your view is amazing.
The beach – siesta key is beautiful but pretty crowded. From a resort perspective, they set up chairs and umbrellas every day around 8am and it was never a problem to get a chair. The problem was that they started putting chairs away around 3:30 so they could be done by 5PM. If there was a threat of a storm (which happens in Florida during the summer and then it gets nice again), the time was even earlier. They used turtle hatching season as the excuse, but that doesn’t start until after dark which was almost 8:30 in June.
So compared to other resorts that let you keep your chairs until sunset, this was a major negative… it felt like they cut your day short, especially when it is light out so late. Nothing is worse at a beach resort than looking at your watch at 3 or 3:30 and feeling like you should be leaving because they’re shutting down the beach all around you. Owners and guests actually brought their own chairs back or laid out blankets so they could enjoy the beach after 4:30 or 5, but again, at $900+ per night, that’s just not ok.
We had reserved a Hyatt Beach Resort premium ocean front unit and had been told on multiple occasions it would not be a corner (since the corners face the beach but also the buildings next to them, making it not as nice a view). And they gave us a corner room on the 6th floor which helps the view but was not what I had been told.
Our alternative was a 3rd floor room which may physically face the beach but does not in any way have a view as it is blocked by trees. We were compensated a few extra hours on checkout, which helped, but I guess at $900 per night, you expect to get the room you personally discussed with the property. When you book they won’t guarantee an actual room, but I find that hard to believe, given there are 44 units, and they have to know, prior to the day you arrive.
Same situation, at $900/night, you should know what you’re getting. If you do check out and want to stay at the property, you can use the showers in the spa and get a locker to hold your belongings. We didn’t know that until the day we checked out and it would have been nice to know that earlier, but either way, it was fantastic to have it and we appreciated it Pool is on the small side, but nice enough, with cabanas and chairs lining the pool. Card key security was excellent and ensured only guests used the facility. There is valet service and the guys who get your car and carry your bags are incredibly pleasant and helpful.
There is a bar that is open from 12-5, that serves drinks and food from one of the local markets. They are not open a minute past 5 so it is a bit strange. I guess on one hand it’s a perk to have a bar at all, but on the other hand, it’s open when you’re generally at the beach. All in all, the Hyatt Siesta Key is on a beautiful (but very, very crowded) beach, has gorgeous residences with views to match and yet, falls a little short because of a few issues that could be easily fixed.
