Siesta Key Beach Florida is a beautiful location for a Florida Destination Beach Wedding. Florida Sunset Beach Wedding
The location of this motel is perfect for a night in order to watch the sunset at the famous Siesta Key beach which is just over the road. The motel itself is basic in terms of size and quality. The room we had was a king bed with jacuzzi bath! Well the bed was kingsize but the bathroom was tiny and I didn't fancy trying the spa bath. The bathroom really needed some work on it the door didn't shut properly and there was very little room. The bedroom area was tile floor which I can understand why because of the beach/sand etc but it was not very clean. The room had all the items like coffee maker refrigerator, TV, wardrobe, ironing board and iron and a fan. We parked the car right outside the door which was convenient. There is a small pool and seating area, ice machine. We only stayed here 1 night it was ok and it served our purpose to see one of the worlds best beaches and the sunset. At $156 a night I guess you get what you pay for in Siesta Key.
The best part about Siesta Beach Resort is the location. I love the part of the beach that is just across the street from the resort. It's much less crowded than the main beach and there's a variety of birds that come to that area in the morning and afternoons.... quite a show! The village is right there so you're a very short walk from restaurants and shops. I would say that a large person might find the room we were in a problem. I've never seen such a tiny bathroom and there was no place to hang wet bathing suits/towels. I did end up hanging them in the large closet but they dripped all over the carpet I'm sure! I'm glad we didn't plan on cooking. Teeny kitchen with only 1 sharp knife and no pots/pans. We were able to remove a couple of shelves from the tiny refrigerator to fit in our juices and snacks, If we stay there again, I would request one of their newer rooms/suites. Everything seemed very clean and all the staff was very nice.
We planned a last minute, one night get away, The Siesta Beach Resort was the only place with a room in our price range (though not cheap). It had mixed reviews so we went with low expectations, but overall, the room was as described, pretty nice, somewhat updated, and clean. Jet tub was awesome. We didn't know it turns on automatically to "self clean", so we had to go the front desk to ask if it needed servicing. A/C was cold, but didn't run all night, so we used a downloadable fan app for "white noise" to sleep because you could hear adjoining rooms somewhat and outside noise. The tropical wood blinds on windows were nice, but did not keep out the bright lights, it seemed like "dawn" all night long. The beds weren't particularly comfortable, but looked inviting with updated covers and decent pillows. We happened to be there during "Pub Crawl" which is basically everyone bar hops, gets drunk and crawls home! There were a couple late night arguments in the courtyard, but nothing horrible. We were given WiFi code, but apparently it only works in the courtyard, NOT in the rooms-oh well. There is a parking spot for every room, you just have to walk across the street to get one, but it's all lighted. Each shift of staff at the front desk were very nice and helpful. It's a resort so no hotel breakfast, but they did have coffee and some packaged danish in the lobby. It is located just yards from a small public beach entrance, we weren't impressed with it though, kind of slimy, so we drove down to the main public beach at Siesta Key about a mile or so. The local eating places have great customer service, nice variety of food, and you can walk to most of them.
Unfortunately, after checking in our room at The Siesta Beach Resort A/C was not working, we were assigned another room and it was working. If you stay try to get a room that has been remodeled. Our room had only one thing new, I flat screen TV in the main room, the TV in our room was outdated and the remote did not work. The room needs a total makeover, fortunately we were there to shower & sleep, plenty of hot water nice functional shower & a comfortable bed. Cleaning and replenishment of towels, soap, shampoo inconsistent. Garbage was not emptied one day. However, the front desk was very helpful & provided everything that was needed that was nor replenished with a great attitude. Phone system did not work thanks for cellphones.
Despite the name The Siesta Beach Resort is very much a motel, right down to the half-functioning shower, questionable levels of cleanliness and painfully loud air conditioning unit. However if all you're looking for is somewhere quiet to sleep at night you can't really do much better than this. It's really cheap despite being 30 seconds walk from the #1 beach in the USA, the reception staff are friendly and helpful, you get free parking, and you're literally right on the main strip of restaurants and bars. It's ideal for a 1-2 night stay; although for anything more than that you may want something with a bit more space and a few more facilities!
To start off this review I would just like to point out that the above "professional" photos had to have been retouched and Photoshopped (sp?). The Siesta Beach Resort wasn't anything like what we were lead to believe. In order to show you just how bad it was I would like to give you a chronological timeline of our impression of the hotel... But first a little background: My party (of 6 people) were vacationing at Siesta Beach Resort & Suites from July 9-July 11 2015. We were two different families, meaning that we reserved two rooms in total. The rooms were reserved back in January. We were so happy at being able to finally discover the wonders of Siesta Key, at least, until we reached the hotel... When we first arrived our impression of the hotel was that it was a little dated but still really nice. The location was amazing. Only a short walk from one side of the street to the other to get to the beach (on the left side) and another short walk over another street (to the right) to get to the marketplace (which is worth going to, by the way). So we were pretty happy about that. All we had to do was find parking... Once we found parking we went to check-in. So we go in and at first the man standing at the desk was very nice. The checking in process was quick and easy. One room was ready and the other wasn't so we decided to leave all our bags in the room that was ready. Everything was wonderful... Until we reached the room we were assigned over at the second lot. (The Siesta Beach Resort is split in two, with the lobby and the suites being in the building next to the street and the pool and the other room types being in the building a little further in on the next street over.) The moment we opened the door to room 122 we got a big gust of a foul-smelling odor. Then we got the sight of the old box-like ventilation system hanging by the kitchen with duct-tape keeping it together. Next was the spot of missing paint next to the door, the rusted refrigerator, the cracked walls, the one very-stained chair next to the beds, the stained and scratched ironing board (with no iron accompanying it) in the two-feet long closet, the toilet that DIDN'T flush, the moldy floor of the shower, the rotted wood of the door... I am not exaggerating what was going on in that room. I have ten other pairs of eyes that can vouch for me. It looked like a room you'd find in a horror movie. As you may have guessed, two of us went down to the lobby to demand another room. We did not reserve and saved for this trip with ardor just to get a room like this. Well, needless to say, the worker manning the counter was no longer the sweet guy we thought he was. Not only did he rudely dismiss our complaints, he plainly said: "You can stay in that room or you can leave." Excuse me? I paid the same price everyone else did so why should I have to stomach the nasty room you assigned me. (And on a side note, if you are a customer that does not speak English well or at all... then trust me when I say that you will not be treated with the respect you deserve.) Well another person from our party went down and we were finally able to get a room in the main lot that looks pretty similar to the one shown in the "professional" photos. That room was the worst of the rooms so I won't go into what the other looked like. So now for the hotel itself... The outside was pretty decent. It was not an eye sore by any means. However, the pool was smaller than what the pictures led you to believe. The "laundry room" was so rusted and dirty that we didn't even want to go near it. The cockroaches that could easily wonder their way into the rooms were plenty. The hotel was definitely not worth what I paid for.
