RumFish Grill definitely stands up to everything that it claims to be on its website. The outdoor lounge area is in the afternoon shade so perfect for relaxing with a cocktail before dinner. The bartender (Pat) was very attentive, informative, and friendly. A perfect start to the evening. This dinner was to celebrate our wedding anniversary which I indicated when making our reservation. When we were seated by the hostess she wished us a happy anniversary. The waiter (Hector) also wished us a happy anniversary and referred to us by name.
Hector was the absolute best waiter we have had for a long time. He alone made the visit worthwhile, but the fish tank wall and the flawless food make this restaurant a very special place to bring guests or just come back on your own. The calamari and scallop appetizers were so flavorful and top quality.
The shrimp and grits was a little too laden with sauce for my liking but the shrimp were prepared to perfection. The lobster was sweet and fresh. Unfortunately we were so full we had to pass on dessert. We love this restaurant and can't wait to come back with friends. It is located on the gulf side of the street but we didn't notice any seating that allows for a view of the ocean. However, the view really is the full wall fish tank and it is more than enough. Make sure to watch for a visit from the elusive Franklin, the 6-foot green eel.
Beginning with the ambiance of the gigantic "fish tank" Rumfish, is a spectacular restaurant. The wine list is one of a kind. When you open your extensive and inviting menu, you are in for a surprise! Don't bother to bring a mini flashlight to read the menu; the menus are backlit! The food was terrific beyond words (and tastes), Four of us had four different seafood entree's and they were ALL amazing. The swordfish, in my opinion, won out over the scrumpous Mahi Mahi, Snapper and the Grouper! What a treat while vacationing! Did I mention that we are returning for lunch today? I just made the reservation!
The fish tank was awesome!! Great backdrop for a lovely birthday dinner. Tried many starters instead of entree for dinner, they were very good-especially liked duck flatbread, plenty to share with others. The grouper entree was excellent. Only disappointment was my earlier request for a sugar-free dessert that was not able to be done. Fresh fruit with lite whip cream would have been nice--something. Unexpected, wonderful service provided was the umbrellas in a torrential downpour and the attendants walking everyone to their car. A fantastic service, umbrellas to go--ingenious !!!
My husband took me for my birthday. We made a reservation but since we came a far distance, got there too early. They were able to seat us but not near the big tank. Thankfully we could see some when the people up close to the tank sat down. We were kind of shocked at the prices, but the food was good and we were not charged a sharing price since we split a meal. It's not the kind of food we would go back for, but next time we will come to try lunch. We liked the outdoor deck and would try that too. Hopefully someday we can sit next to the tank.
